When he was studying the different wavelengths of light he was experimenting with the different characteristics of the colors of the rainbow. He discovered that at every wavelength or every color of the rainbow carries different energy and the way he found that out is by placing a thermometer under each color. He had a piece of crystal that can reflect the suns light to all the colors of the rainbow on the table he placed it placed on. He placed a thermometer under each color and he saw a steady increase of temperature as he moved from one color to the next. The most interesting thing is that after he passed all the colors he placed the thermostat on the table close to the rainbow but not under any of the colors reflected from the crystal, what he saw was astonishing because the thermostat had the highest reading from all colors. That’s when the infrared light was discovered.
