Airbus and Arconic have agreed to enter into two agreements for the production of 3D-printed metal parts and components. Both types of parts will be produced of two different types of materials such as high-temp nickel super alloys and titanium for the aircrafts parts that will be used on the Airbus’ commercial aircraft. These parts that are in the process of being produced are to be used on the A320 Airbus aircraft family. The material of the products was determined for certain reasons by Airbus to be used on their aircrafts such the nickel super alloy.
The Nickel alloy is being used on the production of the components due to the flow of hot air from the engine that is distributed to other areas of the aircraft. A part of the second agreement consist of the production of the titanium 3D parts will be used to make the aircrafts airframe bracket. Arconic is estimating to be able to deliver their part of the deal by no later than the second quarter of year 2017.
These agreements only being an addition to the Arconics April 2016 deal that was agreed to provide 3D printed titanium fuselage and engine pylon components. By establishing these agreements between Aronic and Airbus it has created a great partnership in the rapid growing metal 3D- printing space.
