On June 30th 2016, Aviation Pros wrote an article from PRNEWSWIRE talking about how 700 of local business leaders went to celebrate Boeing’s 100th anniversary. These 700 local business leaders were from the Pacific Northwest. Included into the 700 local business leaders was Alaska Airlines. The local business leaders celebrated at the Museum of Flight. At the Museum of Flight, there was a release of the new Alaska 737 which was painted in a special edition centennial paint color scheme.
Here is what Brad Tilden, Alaska Airline’s CEO, has to say about this.
"Boeing is a global aerospace leader and our country's leading exporter, and people throughout the Northwest should be very proud of them. They design and build amazing jets like the 737, and the more than 77,000 local employees of Boeing strengthen the economic and social fabric of our region. All of us at Alaska want to congratulate them on their 100th anniversary. We are truly honored to be Boeing's hometown partner, today, and into Boeing's next century."
On the Alaska 737 special edition plane, there is “100 years strong” painted across both sides of the 900ER fuselage. This is considered the 153rd Boeing 737 that is released. Alaska Airlines is happy to announce their fifty years together between them and the aircraft manufacturer.
The official birthday for Boeing is on July 15, 1916. That date this year will be considered the day after William Boeing first incorporated Pacific Aero Products in Seattle.
Now, Boeing has almost 160,000 employees working for them all over the world.
